The Search For A New Home

Although the title sounds like we have been evicted or something similar, hehe, it is rather that we have decided that it’s time to upgrade the family home, and we’re putting our house on the market. (We’ve signed already, but we need a few weeks to make our house a bit prettier.)

Yikes!

Our priority is to sell first, but we’re also looking for our new place, too. If we don’t find our new home in time, then we’re probably going to have to look at renting for a little while. A bit tedious, but if it means that we’re not rushing things then that’s OK by me. Not that I have a huge problem with doing things in a rush. Sometimes I get my best results that way!

There you go… a head’s up on where my head is at the moment. One side of my brain is de-cluttering, packing, cleaning, sorting, and the other side is searching, clicking, saving, thinking, driving…  (thanks to realestate.com.au).

We’re also going to explore the option of building. It depends on whether we can find some decent land in an area that we like. If we do build, renting in the interim is definitely going to happen.

Hmmh… So far, this post sounds very serious. I assure you that although we’re making some serious decisions here, we’re still having a laugh along the way.

Today I poked around in the garage to see if we had kept any of my old Allied Pickfords moving boxes, and to my surprise they were still there! (These boxes have become fairly sentimental–I have an old journal entry about them somewhere–I will find it and repost it here.) Anyway, I dusted them off and brought them inside the house. Once I did that, Arky got the idea that something was going down. It also made the move sink in a little…

We’ve been at our current home since 2003; that will make it 6 years in August. This is both a sad and exciting time for us.
